Permanent, natural-looking restorations that fully cover a tooth. They are used when a tooth’s structure is undermined or damaged by a cavity, wear, large fillings, fractures, trauma, etc. They are also used after root canal treatment and implant placement. By covering the tooth completely, a crown provides strength and protects it from breaking.
Natural-looking removable prosthetics/appliances that replace missing teeth. There are 2 types of dentures.
Full dentures are used when all the teeth in an arch (jaw) are missing, while partial dentures are used when some of the teeth are still present.
Dentures help restore eating, smiling and speaking. They also help restore facial features and remove wrinkle lines that are caused by missing teeth. In some cases, implants can be used to further stabilize full dentures.

Implants are a permanent, stand-alone solution to replace missing teeth without the need to “shave-down” (prepare) surrounding teeth. There are 3 parts to a dental implant. The first part is the actual implant that is put in place of the missing tooth. After some time, the bone grows around that implant and makes it secure. The second part is a “stem” (abutment) that is placed on top of the actual implant so that the dentist is able to put a crown on the tooth. Finally, the third part is the crown, which is shaped and colored like your own tooth. After the placement of the crown, the tooth’s esthetics, shape and function are restored. Implants have advantages over a bridge in that the surrounding teeth do not need to be “shaved-down” (prepared) and also do not need to be loaded or stressed. Implants can also be used as alternatives to dentures. In contrast to dentures, implants are not removable and are not taken in-and-out of the mouth. It is important to replace a missing tooth, otherwise several issues can result, including: shifting of teeth, changes in the bite, over-loading of surrounding teeth, periodontal (gum) issues and TMJ (jaw joint) problems.
